WE REMEMBER A SPECIAL MOTHER ….During Mother’s Day Week… I want to honor the memory of one of Key West’s most loving and caring Mothers….. MARY ANN WORTH, whom we sadly lost on April 20th.  She was 97…. a stately, beautiful and gracious Lady who was kind, giving, caring,  and a friend to all.  Who will ever forget the glorious Christmas Parties she hosted with son, the late Tom Oosterhoudt, every year….Everyone in town was invited and it was an amazing event….A wonderful smorgasbord of food, drinks flowing, grand entertainment….Truly, Mary Ann was the Hostess with the Mostest.   She made everyone feel as if they were the most important person she knew.  Mary Ann was born on February 14, Valentine’s Day….and her precious memory will live on in each HEART she touched through her many years in Key West.   Mary Ann Worth was laid to rest in Jacksonville, FL on April 26th.  We will all remember her fondly and with love.

EVENT FOR FR. JOHN BAKER…This wonderful Mass on 4/29 to honor Fr. John Baker, recently retired pastor of St. Mary Star of the Sea…. was a truly beautiful event.  Fr. John was overwhelmed with the outpouring of love bestowed on him that night.  The good news is that he is thrilled  that he will be able to reside in Key West during the years ahead.  If you were not at this event, and want to make a contribution to Fr. John , please make  checks payable to Key West Retired Catholic Priest Fund, Inc.  Donations given to this fund will go toward helping Fr. John in his retirement. Send all checks to the Rectory at 1010 Windsor Lane, Key West, FL 33040.    Please be generous as Fr. John has been so very kind, loving, giving, welcoming and generous to everyone he has encountered.
ALSO… I must make a mention of the most beautiful music presented at this Mass.  Bravo to Musical Director, Linda Sparks,  and the magnificent choir and soloists like Suzanne Moore.  I don’t think there was a dry eye in the church when Auld Lang Syne was sung.  We will long remember this beautiful Mass honoring Fr. John.

CONGRATS TO NEAL RUCHMAN!!!….Local playwright, Neal Ruchman, submitted a 15 minute paly to the Inaugural Jewish Short Play Festival, and was one of only ten finalists from a nationwide competition.  Neal’s play will be staged on June 17th in La Jolla, CA.  Great news must be shared!

REVIEW ON EVENING OF BROADWAY… This Benefit to help the Key West High School Drama Club was  most wonderful!!  An All STAR CAST of Performers, including…. BOBBY NESBITT…. CHRISTOPHER PETERSON…. CARMEN RODRIGUEZ… LAUREN THOMPSON….AND JESSICA WACHS were simply Fabulous!  In addition the full-house audience, was entertained by Four truly Outstanding Talented High School students…. Carly Lefelar…Amelia Morffi …Ruby Sickman…and Em Pucuhuaranga!!!!  Everyone there was blown away and deeply moved by these young ultra talented teens.  Key West truly does produce shining stars and we heard them that night!! The Drama Club relies entirely on donations, sponsorships, fundraising, and grants since The Key West High School has NO Budget to sponsor performances. Thanks to Emily Young who heads this  group  of talented teen thespians!

People know they can trust a Taurus, for they are reliable, faithful, practical, and people to turn to in a crisis. They can be counted on! Although they are steadfast, they are also very resistant to the idea of change. It makes them feel nervous…as if everything is going to collapse around them! Taureans always take a long time to get used to any major alterations in their life, and they they can feel dislocated by change. As a result, they tend to slip into routines that quickly become ruts, as they would rather know what each day will bring, even though it is boring or tedious…than risk getting upset when their regular schedule is disturbed.
Taureans take things slow….preferring to do things in their own time and in their own way, and often turn a deaf ear to anyone who may try to persuade them otherwise. They have tremendous determination and will power but this can turn into that stubborn streak that Taureans are famous for. Nothing will change their mind; people can go blue in the face trying to reason with them, but they just won’t listen!
Taureans do need their sense of self-worth and they associate their possessions as status symbols. The problem with this, is that they often become hemmed in by their possessions as they start to rule their lives. Letting go and simplifying is not an easy task for a Taurean!

Family means the world to a Taurean and they devote lots of time to their nearest and dearest. They enjoy keeping up long standing traditions especially at the holidays. They are loyal, loving and steadfast, which endears them to anyone who likes to know that their affection won’t be tossed away.
