Adult Tarpon ranging from 130 to 190 pounds were caught during the recent hot weather in Key West.
These Silver King beasts of the flats fought long and hard in 80 degree water!
One of the Tarpon fought us for 2 and 1/2 hours before breaking us off on an acrobatic jump!
Oops! A little late with the camera, but I got a cool shot of that mighty Tarpon underwater…
That fish was easily 180 plus pounds and took us for a wild ride around and under trap buoys and sailboat lines like this:
The next push of Tarpon will have to wait until we have another hot spell in between cold fronts.
An angler recently asked about the Palalo Worm Hatch that happens each May and June here in the Keys. Here is a nice fish caught during a hatch that happens on or after a new moon at dusk on a falling tide. There are
some dates available for the Worm Hatch this May, so if you are interested call Capt. Dexter Simmons at 305-745-3304 for more information. Or visit the website at http://www.keywestflyfishing.com or send an email to

In the meantime, there will be Permit Marching and Tarpon Rolling on the flats and in the channels and basins.
Here is a nice March Permit…
