The Schooner Adirondack is quite a beaty! I sailed on her down in Key West. Thanks for letting me take the helm for a few minutes…I brag about it all the time…I tried to catch up with the Schooner Adirondack closer to home in Newport, RI, but she was sold out the entire day…and no doubt why…great video too…

I was very glad to have had the oppertunity to spend an afternoon on the Adirondack II, she is a beauty indeed. I also was allowed to take the helm for about a 1/2 hour an found it a wonderful experience. Cannot wait to go back to the Keys and go out on her again.

The Adirondack is a gaff-rigged schooner  with a wooden hull, and was completed by Scarano Boat Building in Albany, NY. Schooner Adirondack was built in 1994 and joined our fleet in 2007.  She is Coast Guard certified for 49 guests. Her mast reaches over 70 feet above deck and has  just under 2000 square feet of sail area. She is 65 feet on deck, 80 feet overall, and her draft is 8.5 feet. On a high wind day, it is not uncommon for her to reach 10 knots under sail. She is a very lively and fast vessels, and all of their captains feel that they are an absolute dream to operate!

•Designed and built by Scarano Boat, 1994 & 1999
These period-styled schooners were designed and built for charter work. Their wood construction conveys an engagingly traditional aesthetic both above- and below-deck.

Operated by Classic Harbor Line in Manhattan, and Sailing Excursions Inc. in Newport, RI, respectively, they have shown sailors and non-sailors alike how enjoyable a few hours or a day on a classic schooner can be.

Knowledge and skill in performance design have been demonstrated by numerous first-place finishes by several Scarano sailing yachts, including an elapsed-time course record in the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race. Our designs have excelled competitively even while adhering to the requirements of USCG certification to carry passengers.
