HAPPY MARCH 8TH BIRTHDAY TO….JOYCE STAHL….TIMOTHY DAHMS!!!!
REVIEW OF THE DROWSY CHAPERONE…..….After performing two nights to sold-out Preview shows, and hearing all the raves and praise from those who saw it…. we were so excited to be part of the Grand Opening on March 7th! As one avid theater fan expressed (Harrell Odom), ‘It wasn’t a home run…It was a Grand Slam Home Run!!’….and that is the truth!!! Artistic director, Danny Weathers has knocked it out of the park once again with this fabulous musical at the Waterfront Playhouse! We loved every single second of it….and can’t wait to see it again! It is pure magic… the perfect cast who will sing and dance their way right into your hearts! The set, by genius, Michael Boyer is sensational! It will amaze and delight you, as the stage has a whole life of its own in this show! When you see it…and you better!!!…you will know exactly what I mean! The galaxy of shining stars in this show are all First Rate!! They are….. David Black, hysterical…. Laurie Breakwell, fabulous… J.B. McLendon & Rhett Kalman, terrific…. Jeffrey Harwell, a wonderful surprise!…. Andrew Hodge, darling & delightful…. Kristen Michelle, sensational!!! (move over Sutton Foster, here comes Kristen!!!)… Bruce Moore, adorable and superb, and what joy to have him back on the Key West stage!!!…. Kyla Piscopink, a real star babe….. Marjorie Paul-Shook, as good as it gets…. Vicki Roush, truly a WOW!!!… Carolyn Cooper, Philip Tabb, Heather-Mae Potter, Chris Tanner, Willie Alsedec…the VERY best ensemble ever!…Michael Pallansch, great fun…. and Danny Weathers, the heart of the show…who not only acted fabulously in it, but directed this very complicated and demanding Musical and who made it look seamless and easy! The creative team includes, Michael Boyer, set design…Michael Fauss, musical director…lighting by Kim Handson, props & costumes, by Carmen Rodriguez, and stage manager, Trish Manley. The costumes are gorgeous and were rented from Maine State Music Theater…..Leigh Hooten and Carmen and Ruth Cahoon have been making sure these fab period costumes look dazzling and they ARE spectacular!!!! (250 costumes in all!) I urge you to not wait until the last moment to get your tix. You will want to see it early in the run, because you WILL want to attend another performance! We saw this play on opening night and it was first rate! The direction and acting were superb! It is a serious play with lots of hilarity going on. I would call it a Dramady! The sensational Key West actor, Michael Mulligan stars at Leonard, a jaded novelist, who has been hired by three aspiring students to conduct a writing Seminar! Mike is nothing short of super great as Leonard. The students are, Quincy Perkins, Hannah Citrin, Ed Porter and Bex Marsh, and each is perfectly cast. They each have a great future in store on the stage!!! The dialogue is sharp and smart….funny and real….Award winning Chicagoan, Dennis Zacek, directed Seminar, and his direction was excellent!
