    Sensational! The best food in or near Islamorada. Period.

    I had dinner for the 3rd time in as many months at The Green Turtle a few nights ago. The WOW factor is a 10+. This occasion was even better than the first two – which admittedly were pretty great.
    The moment I stepped inside I was enveloped by the aromas drifting from the open view kitchen (This is cool enough because I can SEE that the kitchen is spotless). The scents were a heady mix of spices, meats, sauces and seafood. I, dining alone, was immediately greeted by a gentleman who I learned later was the manager Tony. I asked if I could dine at the bar and he happily escorted me to a seat there. The bartender was friendly and helpful and made me feel welcome which was nice since I was alone. She raved about a special; it was a crab and something good stuffed grouper with a sun dried tomato beurre blanc. It was served with these yummy smashed potatoes loaded with boursin, smoked (I think) bacon, herbs and other good things, and a nice sauteed fresh spinach. One bite in and I thought to myself, “Wow this is fantastic!!!!” By the second bite I was actually giddy. This food is spectacular. I think it’s interesting enough to tempt a gourmet palate but many dishes are simple Keys-type fare that would be cool for more regular tastes. Go to this restaurant!! I certainly will, again and again.
