IN MEMORY OF ARIA AND SCHUBERT…..In Key West, our pets are more than furry or feathered creatures….they are revered and loved and are Family! Our special friend, Gayla Morgan, recently lost her cherished darling Aria….not merely a dog, but a little person…..Wherever Gayla would go, so would go Aria, and everyone knew her and loved her. That is why her passing touches so many hearts and we feel Gayla’s pain so very deeply. In addition, another dear friend, Jimmy Olson is mourning the loss of his beloved feline, Schubert, his loving companion of 16 years. Fourteen years ago, we lost our treasured schnauzer, Pepper, and the memory of his passing still haunts me. I can hardly look at another schnauzer without tearing up. WE REMEMBER EMILY BOYD LOWE……It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that we lost the wonderful Emily Boyd Lowe, who passed away peacefully at 2 am on August 1, 2012, surrounded by her loved ones. Emily was a true Key West treasure….someone cherished by all who knew her. For many years she headed the marvelous Keys Chorale and was teacher, mentor and friend to all in the Chorale. She was a beautiful person, inside and out, and a real Lady. You can send messages of sympathy and caring to her husband, Donald Lowe at, 3170 Gousty Knowe Lane, Lake Leelenau, MI 49653. There will be a memorial service to honor Emily in either October or November. In the meantime….keep Emily’s husband, Don and the family in your choicest thoughts and prayers as they deal with their great loss. And, if you look into the sky at night you will see a bright star shining in the Heavens…..that would be Emily Lowe shining brightly like the special star she was. The choirs of angels will never sound better with Emily directing them! She will be missed more than words can say.

THE SHINGLES!!!!!…..I just heard from one of my readers that her husband is plagued with an horrendous case of the Shingles….affecting his forehead, face, all his senses….he has no energy, is in constant great pain surrounding his eye and head. It can be very serious especially in the facial area. She highly suggests that everyone get a shingles vaccination. I think I have to agree with her. Better safe than sorry, right?

Rusty Hodgdon, who was the winner of the 2012 Mystery Fest Writing contest, sponsored by the Waterfront Playhouse, has penned two new books, entitled, THE SUBWAY KILLER and SUICIDE. They are “Psycho Thrillers” because they explore the Freudian depths of crime & mystery. Rusty graduated from Yale with degrees in English lit and creative writing. He later graduated from Boston U with a Juris Doctor degree. He worked for 20 years as a public defender in Boston, then with his own firm.
